Akshay Vaishnaw M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Akshay Vaishnaw has served as a member of our board of directors since May 2019. He is a venture partner with over 25 years of experience in the biotechnology industry. Since 2006, he has served in positions of increasing responsibility across Research and Development (R&D), and most recently as the President of Alnylam Pharmaceuticals. Prior to Alnylam, Akshay held various positions in clinical research and business development at Biogen. Akshay received a bachelor’s degree from University College Cardiff, UK, he received his MD from the University of Wales College of Medicine, UK, and a PhD from the University of London, UK, in Molecular Immunology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, UK. From 2014-2018 he served as a board member of Visterra, Inc. Akshay is also a member of the Board of Directors for Editas Medicine Inc.
